I’m Gabriel Nason, and Balanced & Thriving is my working notebook on one stubborn problem: how to keep work, body, mind, money, food, home and the people you love in something like workable proportion. Not perfect proportion. Workable.
I should say plainly what this is not. It is not a program, it is not a morning routine that will fix your life by Thursday, and it is not a shrine to optimization. I am suspicious of round numbers and allergic to anything that promises to transform you. What interests me are the small corrections, the quiet adjustments that keep a life from tipping over in one direction. Aristotle called the good life a kind of mean between extremes, and most days I find that more useful than any app.
So I read. I read the primary sources so you do not have to, then I try the idea out on an ordinary Tuesday and report back honestly. I like footnotes. I like old books. I like the moment when a two-thousand-year-old observation turns out to be exactly right about your inbox. When something is overrated, over-measured, or simply not worth it, I say so.
Everything here is written by an actual person who is still, cheerfully, figuring it out. No miracles, no lecturing, just field notes on keeping a life in proportion.
